CEP4CMA in a nutshell
CEP4CMA is a multi-layer monitoring and analysis approach for Cloud Computing Environments. It is based on Complex Event Processing (CEP).
CEP4CMA consists of two main components:
- A Monitoring Agent
- An Analysis Agent
The Monitoring Agent
The monitoring agent makes use of existing monitoring tools, such as Ganglia, Xenmon, MpStat, IoStat and AOP4CSM
The Analysis Agent
The analysis agent allows us to analyze Cloud performance parameters and detect performance-related problems. It is based on Complex Event Processing and makes use of a set analysis rules, implemented as queries in the CEP Engine. The proposed analysis rules repesent the branches of the defined Fishbone diagram. It is derived from a comprehensive analysis of the correlations between monitored metrics across Cloud layers, while following a Root Cause Analysis (RCA) approach.
